Nobel University

Nobel University was founded in the summer of 2000 in Los Angeles, California. Committed to producing quality practitioners of Oriental Medicine, the University began by offering the Master of Science in Oriental Medicine program (MSOM).

In 2003, the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education approved the University to offer a certificate program in English as a Second Language (ESL), and in 2004 it was approved to offer the Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration (BA) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) programs. In 2006, the University added the Bachelor of Arts in Church Music program (BCM). In 2009, a branch campus of the University was established in Buena Park, California to accommodate the growing student body.

In 2013, Nobel University shifted its strategic plan and its focus by concentrating exclusively on its business program offerings. Since Nobel University no longer provides the Certificate in English as a Second Language, Bachelor of Arts in Church Music, and Master of Science in Oriental Medicine programs, the University is able to specialize in the business education and deliver world-class education to its students.

In 2015, Nobel University was accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) to award the master's and bachelor's degrees at both campuses.

Nobel University does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin, religion, age, gender, sexual orientation, genetic information, pregnancy, disability, or prior military service in administration of its educational policies, admission, employment, educational programs, or activities. In general, only those students who are reasonably capable of successfully completing and benefiting from the programs offered by Nobel University shall be admitted through fair, effective, and consistently applied criteria and processes.

English Proficiency

All courses will be taught in English. Nobel University does not offer ESL classes. Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English is essential for success at Nobel University. At the Office of Admissions' discretion, proficiency may be demonstrated by any one of the following:

1. An official score report of a standardized exam, such as the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
Applicants to the undergraduate programs must submit a minimum TOEFL iBT score of 45, IELTS 5.0 or its equivalency taken within the past two years.
Applicants to the graduate programs must submit a minimum TOEFL iBT score of 61, IELTS 6.0 or its equivalency taken within the past two years;

2. Completion of a secondary education in a country where English is the primary language for the undergraduate programs. Completion of a post-secondary level degree program in a country where English is the primary language for the graduate programs;

3. Completion of a post-secondary level ESL course, college-level English course, or completion of a degree program taken at an English-speaking postsecondary institution; or

4. A score report of Nobel University's Language Proficiency Exam. Applicants to the undergraduate programs must pass Nobel University's Language Proficiency Exam with a minimum score of 50. Applicants to the graduate programs must pass Nobel University's Language Proficiency Exam with a minimum score of 60.

Entrance Examinations

Undergraduate or graduate entrance examinations are not required for admission to the degree programs.

Standardized Exam Credit (SEC)

Nobel University does not accept credits through challenge examinations and/or achievement tests.

Experiential Learning Credit (ELC)

Nobel University does not award credit for prior experiential learning.

Ability-To-Benefit (ABT) Students

Nobel University does not admit Ability-to-Benefit Students.

Distance Education

Nobel University does not offer distance education.

Compulsory Age

Nobel University does not enroll or admit any person of compulsory school age or any person attending a school at the secondary level, unless the University has established through contact with properly responsible parties that pursuit of the training will not be detrimental to the student's regular school work.
